"To enable me to go to Agricultural College in
1977, my father gave me 40 Boer goat ewes. I could select good
commercial animals from his herd. My passion for goats was instilled
by my father when I was a young boy , by giving me the
responsibility to feed the ‘‘hans bokkies”.
"In 1984 I joined the SABTV. In 1993 I was appointed as a judge and
this keeps me busy. For the first time in 1995, I judged goats at
the nationals show. Then I was invited to judge goats in countries
like America, Australia, Brazil and Reunion Island. I also offer
goat courses in these countries and am one of five members of the
panel that judges SA courses.
"My love for a simple animal like the goat has opened many doors for
me. I have made many friends, visited many countries that otherwise
I would never have seen. I owe the South African Boer goat
association everything for the experience gained. I have been
involved 10 years in management and am currently vice-chairman of
the breeding Association."
